[Ring ring, telephone. Yuya really hopes Yugo is still awake at this hour and, more importantly, actually going to answer his radio.]

Yugo? Yugoooo. Hey, pick up.

[He sounds tired.]

[Luckily for Yuya, as much as he wasn't before... Yugo snorts awake from the sharp static at his earfin. The hell.]

Mn-huh...?

[Said while half-asleep after managing to blindly grab and work the thing.]

[At... least that makes him reliable to reach when he's asleep.]

Hey, someone else from our group of dimensions showed up. It's Reira--you remember Reira, right? He was a lancer with the rest of us, and he was going to participate in the Friendship Cup until Tsukikage took his place.

[That probably all means more to Yuya than Yugo. Er--] He's a little kid and he wears a teal hoodie. Can you help keep an eye on him while he's here?

[Out of few the duels Yugo was watching, he slept through that one. So Yuya's right to assume that the other barely has a clue of who Reira is. And likely missed the kid's presence in Synchro during that tragic night as thoroughly as he ignored Yuya's during that fateful night in Standard.]

I'd just feel better if we all knew where everyone was. And he's young. [He explains, because Yugo definitely does not have the same attachment to this kid.] Thanks!

[The radio clicks off and he almost leaves it at that.

And then he remembers one other important detail.] Uh, one more thing. How much do you remember about Zarc? [Being Zarc.]

[As soon as Yuya seems to leave it at that, Yugo slumps back, ready to get back to snoozing- but then the radio pops back on with such a serious topic.]

Huh? ... I remember he made us want to... [A longer pause. Out of thought, emotions, or both is hard to say.] ... to destroy everything within all the dimensions in sight. Which makes him an asshole doesn't it? What brought him up?

[Yuya snorts.] Yeah, an asshole.

[That's on the list of things he can't call Zarc around Reira.] He, that part... Reira took him out of us in our final duel. The Ringmaster took it out of him and is keeping Zarc for now. But he's going to be reborn again. Just not inside of us.

The Ringmaster thinks it's a good idea to let that guy come back a second time?!

It wasn't really her decision! [Contracts are contracts, even if that's one he wished she had turned down.] But we can't avoid it now... I hope she even can remove his powers.

[It'd be easier to swallow if he couldn't do anything. Although Yugo's suggestion pulls his focus sideways.] Five of us... do you think we can be separated again? Permanently?

[Because, well, he assumed "weird time bullshit" meant that even though they had their own bodies again here for their own, separate contracts, when they return it's every soul back to the same body. Except Zarc.]

Well that's the whole point of my contract. To let us and the girls live our own lives again when we go back.

[... D'aww. With how easily Yugo could've forgot about the rest of the counterparts besides Rin and himself, how sweet.]

[He starts laughing, suddenly, with relief and joy.] Yuzu... and Serena, and Rin, and Ruri... whatever Leo Akaba's machine was doing to them, they'll be okay?

[Okay, super heartwarming and all that, but also - Miko has not actually been really listening to what's being said. So mostly she's noticing that her roommate is having a WHOLE ENTIRE CONVERSATION and it's TOO LATE FOR THIS.

Which is why there's now an airborne pillow aimed directly at Yugo's head.] Shut uuuup.

[To be entirely fair toward Miko, the moment was about to stop being casual volume heartwarming since Yugo had his mouth open for the start of a shout before the pillow smacks right into his face. He sputters for a second and almost fumbles his radio.]

Ghpckahh..!! Wha...?!

[Oh wait. Right... roommate.]

[After the brief commotion and silence from over the line, Yuya might be wondering what's going on. But soon enough the synchro lizard-teen is speaking again, back by what sounds to be the light breeze from outside.]

What machine...?! And you mean you don't know what that guy was doing for telling me?

[Not that Rin's fate isn't already assured to be fine because of his contract before this one, but still.]

[Yuya leans closer to his radio, as if somehow that's going to clue him in on what's going on over there.]

Oh--that's right, you didn't see it. [It still fills his throat with disgust remembering it.] Yuzu, all of them... they're the same as us. They used to be Ray--Ray Akaba. The Professor's daughter.

He was trying to merge them together to bring her back. I don't know how the machine works, just that... it was his goal.

[Miko scowls at him from her bed.]

Way too late for this, dude! You wanna take calls, you should go outside or somethin'.

[Yugo clenches one of his hands tightly- but not the one that's holding the radio thankfully, though not caring either as the claws on them bite into his palm.

He could have lost her? Lost Rin for good?

All because he couldn't resist that furious need to duel Yuri instead?

With his tail lashing behind him, the hot energy that suddenly flares up in the back of his throat alongside the choking anguish doesn't help Yugo any more in trying to find words to reply with.]

[The silence is heavy, and while Yuya doesn't know exactly what Yugo's feeling... He can take a guess. Rin was as important to him and Yuzu was to Yuya. They were so close to losing them--they might have if not for the Ringmaster.

Yuya can't help but feel guilty. He had been their last defense against Zarc, and he's failed them.]

Hey... if that's what you asked the Ringmaster for, that means they have to be okay. You really saved everyone, Yugo!

[What the- well the night sky gets lit up with green and yellow as Yugo vents with a blast of his "Dielectric Breath" into the air. The sound's technically not ear-piercing, just close enough for the radio to pick it up out of nowhere.

He takes a long normal breath soon after.]

Right, course. They'd have to be fine after all that yeah.

[But ow, when he notices why his other hand is stinging.]

... When we get back there's no way in hell I'm not punching that guy's face in.

I bought too many books. This one looks about your level, so I'm giving it to you.

[The book is titled Thermodynamics for Dummies, and as one would expect, it explains the laws and concepts of thermodynamics in a way that's accessible to laymen and older children, with helpful illustrations and examples.]

[Of course, the title alone might make one wonder... is this a gesture of goodwill? An insult? Both, somehow? At the very least, it looks like Rita thought of Yugo while she was gift-shopping, so maybe that counts for something... maybe.]

[On B18, they will find a fancy looking gift box in his trailer with a note left on top. The handwriting is done in an over the top cursive that he might recognize as the Ringmaster's, written on aged papyrus with the ink seemingly made of shining gold.]

[Her signature is so massive and florid that it fills up the rest of the paper. When they open the box, they'll find a tiny pocket motorbike. Importantly, though, it is capable of hovering a distance above the ground - and even more importantly, it is capable of being stashed in one's pocket, like some kind of absurd slight of hand trick. When it is deposited on the ground it will be a rideable size, but in the pocket, it will be toy sized.]
